Whether you're a passionate bookworm looking to take your reading journey to new heights or someone who wants to reignite their love for reading, this blog is for you. In the end, I'll even provide a link to some digital reading journals.
If you haven't noticed yet a lot of readers have taken over social media platforms with their aim to share their love of books. On nearly any platform you can find a community of readers who is more than vocal on their opinions of a novel. You may find yourself on "BookTok" or "Bookstagram" where there is exposure to millions of different titles.
With this exposure and knowledge comes the stress of wanting to read every book you see. At least for me, that's true. I remember when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and everyone found themselves reverting to reading as a pass time. For some, it was just like rekindling an old flame. For others, it was the development of a newfound love for reading.
Reading has become an addiction and a challenge that people want to tackle. I'm sure we have all downloaded the Good Reads app so we can keep adding to our "To Be Read" list. How funny is it that we went from finding reading a hassle as children and hating reading logs, to being adult readers who actually want to log our reading and leave reviews?
A modern method of these "reading logs" is a digital reading journal. Now I'll tell you the first time I discovered these I immediately wanted to buy myself an Ipad. I did, although for a completely different reason! But the point is I dove into the world of digital reading journals and I was in love.
Now you might be wondering what exactly I put in my digital reading journals. For one it provided me with the perfect reading organization. Every month I created a "To Be Read" list. This list included novels that were meticulously chosen and hit a variety of genres. I wrote down my reading goals and aspirations like fifty books in a year.
I used it as my personal reading tracker where I could see what books I had read and what I had left to read. (Although my list of books I wanted to read just kept growing) I also created ratings and reviews of all the books I read. I kept challenges I would find on other blogger's sites or social media and I was pushing the envelopes of my reading comfort zone.
I would say I saw the benefits of digital reading journals. The biggest one was reading accountability. It pushed me to follow through with a book which in turn made room for "me time". Reading was my escape and my downtime. I found myself setting aside the time to get it done! Soon I was diving into more e-books and reading journals.
I enjoyed them so much that I started creating my own reading journal templates. I wanted to take part in enhancing reading experiences and give you all something to look forward to after a good read.
